Hello,

I have a mp4 file. When i play it directly using Window Media Player, it plays successfully but when i try to play it by accessing via hiawatha web server, Window Media Player shows an error message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file". I use IE8 browser. With IE7, it plays successfully. I use hiawatha-7.4. Is hiawatha does any kind of compression etc. so that the problem occurs.

Please help.

It could be a wrong mimetype. By default, the mimetype of .mp4 files is video/mp4. Perhaps IE8 requires another mimetype? You can change it in the mimetype.conf file in the Hiawatha configuration directory.

Hiawatha does not compress files, so that can't be it.
