Hi,
First off, many thanks to Hugo for a great webserver. I'm new to Hiawatha and loving it.
Has anyone on this forum successfully modified their Hiawatha logging to remove the last 2 numbers from the captured IP address?
For example: by default, Hiawatha logs:
180.200.183.97|Thu 27 Aug 2015 ...
For German compliance this would need to look like:
180.200.0.0|Thu 27 Aug 2015 ...
Cheers,
Mark

That is is a strange law most countries have laws for certain companies to save the logs so they could be requested by authorities that is how it is in Sweden.
however can you not use this option?:
AnonymizeIP = yes|no
Anonymize IP addresses before writing them to the access and error logfiles or sending them to the Hiawatha Monitor.
Default = no, example: AnonymizeIP = yes

Hi,
Thanks for the tip about AnonymizeIP.
AnonymizeIP does work in that it replaces the last number with zero (180.200.183.0 ...).
My understanding of the German privacy law is that it requires the last 2 numbers to be replaced (180.200.0.0 ...)
However I may well be wrong on that. There seems to be conflicting information around the German requirements - with some internet sources saying removing just the last number is enough - in which case AnonymizeIP will do the job just fine.
I don't speak German, but if I do get a clear understanding of the requirement, I'll post it here.

The AnonymizeIP feature was requested by a German guy, because of the law you are talking about. So, it should be sufficient.

Thanks Hugo. I'll keep going with AnonymizeIP then.
Love your work!!!
