htpasswd with MD5 please

It would be nice you accept MD5 encryption because on XP it is difficult to get CRYPT, htpasswd uses MD5 only in XP
What do you think can be done for XP users to make it a bit more user friendly?

That's not something I can change. Because the browser has the change the algoritm too. And I can't do that.
What you can do is instead of using the basic HTTP authentication schema, use the digest http authentication schema. The advantage is that the password is no longer sent in plain text (which is the case when using 'basic'). The disadvantage is that the password should be stored in plain text in the password file. But, then you are no longer bound to the CRYPT algoritm.
